Windows 11 Home is the right edition for a personal computer. It has the whole Windows 11 experience — the redesigned interface, Snap layouts, widgets, Microsoft Store, Windows Security and Windows Hello sign-in — and it costs less than Pro because it leaves out the business management features a home machine never uses.
Who Home is for
A family or personal PC that is not joined to a company network and is not managed by anyone else.
Everyday work and study — Office, browsing, mail, media, games.
Anyone who does not need BitLocker, Remote Desktop hosting, Hyper-V or domain join. If you do need those, buy Pro; they are genuinely absent from Home rather than hidden.
Two things to check before you buy
First, hardware: Windows 11 needs TPM 2.0 and UEFI Secure Boot, and is 64-bit only. Microsoft’s PC Health Check tool answers this in seconds. Second, setup: Windows 11 Home requires an internet connection and a Microsoft account to complete first-time setup. That is a Microsoft requirement, not ours, and it catches people out.

Download instructions
Open the email from Vaneyo containing your license key — it arrives within minutes of purchase. Check your spam folder if it is not in the inbox.
Go to Microsoft’s official download page at microsoft.com/software-download and pick the release you are installing.
Choose your route: the Installation Assistant to upgrade the PC you are sitting at, or the Media Creation Tool or ISO for a clean install from USB.
For a USB install, use an empty 8 GB or larger drive — the tool erases it.
Use the installation media appropriate to your license and device. The installed edition must match the license you hold.
Installation and activation
Upgrading an existing PC
Back up important data first. Use Microsoft’s supported upgrade route for your current system and review the installer’s options for keeping files and applications.
When it finishes, go to Settings → System → Activation → Change product key and enter your 25-character key.
Clean installation
Boot from the USB drive, selecting it in the firmware boot menu if necessary.
Choose your language and keyboard, then Install now.
Enter your product key when prompted and select the matching edition — it must match the license you bought.
Accept the license terms, choose Custom: Install Windows only, and pick the target disk. A clean install erases that disk, so back up first.
Finish setup, then confirm under Settings → System → Activation that Windows reports as activated.
If anything stalls, contact us — installation support is included with every order.
Compatibility
Hardware: Check your exact device with Microsoft’s PC Health Check tool; requirements include a compatible 64-bit processor, TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot capability.
Upgrades: eligible Windows 10 devices may upgrade through Microsoft’s supported route. An edition change or clean installation can have different prerequisites and data consequences.
Software: runs Microsoft 365, Office LTSC 2021 and 2024, Visual Studio, SQL Server client tools and the standard Windows application catalog.
Networks: Home does not support Active Directory or Microsoft Entra ID domain joining. Choose Pro if those business-network capabilities are required.
Not supported: machines without TPM 2.0 or UEFI Secure Boot, 32-bit processors, and Apple silicon Macs as a native install.
How it compares
Windows 11 Home vs Pro — Pro adds BitLocker drive encryption, Remote Desktop hosting, Hyper-V, Windows Sandbox, domain and Microsoft Entra ID join, and Group Policy. If the PC holds work data, is accessed remotely, or belongs to a managed network, buy Pro. Otherwise Home covers it.
Upgrading later — if you buy Home and later need Pro, you do not have to reinstall. Our Windows 11 Pro upgrade key converts an existing Home installation in place, keeping your files and applications.
Windows 11 Home vs Windows 10 Home — Windows 10 reached end of support on October 14, 2025. If the hardware qualifies for Windows 11, this is the one to buy.
What is the difference between Windows 11 Home and Pro?
Pro adds BitLocker drive encryption, Remote Desktop hosting, Hyper-V, Windows Sandbox, domain and Microsoft Entra ID join, and Group Policy management. Everything in Home is also in Pro.
Do I need a Microsoft account?
Yes. Windows 11 Home requires an internet connection and a Microsoft account to complete first-time setup. This is Microsoft’s requirement.
Do I really need TPM 2.0?
Yes. Windows 11 requires TPM 2.0 and UEFI Secure Boot and will not install without them. Many PCs have TPM present but disabled in firmware, so check the firmware settings before ruling your machine out.
Can I upgrade to Pro later without reinstalling?
Yes. A Windows 11 Pro upgrade key converts an existing Home installation in place and keeps your files and applications.
Is this a subscription or a one-time payment?
A one-time payment. You receive a permanent license key with no recurring charges. It stays valid and Windows keeps working for as long as the product is not uninstalled or deactivated.
Is the license genuine?
Yes. This is a genuine Microsoft license key with full activation support. Vaneyo is an authorized reseller and holds a Microsoft partnership certificate.
When will I receive my key?
Within minutes of purchase, by email. Check your spam or junk folder if it has not arrived, and contact us if you still cannot find it.
How many computers can I use this key on?
One. The license activates a single machine. Additional machines need additional licenses.
Can I move the license to another computer later?
No. This is a retail key tied to the machine it activates. If the computer or its hardware changes, a new key is required. If you expect to change machines often, ask us about our bind license products instead.
What if the installation does not work?
Contact us. Our Installation Warranty means we guarantee the installation will work correctly, and our team will help until it does.
