Windows 11 Education is the edition Microsoft builds for schools, universities and the people who work and study in them. Feature for feature it matches Windows 11 Enterprise, which means it includes everything in Windows 11 Pro and then adds the management and security tools Pro does not have: AppLocker for controlling which applications may run, Credential Guard for isolating sign-in secrets, and advanced BitLocker management. If you have been comparing Windows 11 Education vs Pro, that is the difference in one sentence.
Why people choose Windows 11 Education
Enterprise capability without an Enterprise agreement. AppLocker and Credential Guard are normally reserved for volume-licensed Enterprise customers.
Everything Pro has. BitLocker, Remote Desktop hosting, Hyper-V, Windows Sandbox, domain and Microsoft Entra ID join, and Group Policy are all included.
A lifetime license. One payment. The key stays valid and Windows keeps working for as long as the product is not uninstalled or deactivated.
In active support. Unlike older Windows releases, Windows 11 still receives security updates from Microsoft.
Check your hardware first
Windows 11 will not install without TPM 2.0 and UEFI Secure Boot, and it is 64-bit only — there is no 32-bit version of Windows 11. Most computers sold from around 2018 onward meet the requirement, and on many machines TPM is present but switched off in the firmware. Microsoft’s free PC Health Check tool answers the question in seconds. If you are unsure, message us before ordering; we would rather check with you than sell you a key you cannot use.

This is a retail key for one PC. It activates on the machine you install it on; if that computer or its hardware changes later, a new key is needed.

In short: Home is for personal use, Pro is for business PCs, and Education adds the Enterprise-level controls on top of Pro. Feature support by edition is published by Microsoft in its Windows security licensing and edition requirements documentation.
System requirements
Microsoft’s published minimums for Windows 11:
Processor: 1 GHz or faster, 2 or more cores, on a compatible 64-bit processor or system on a chip
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Storage: 64 GB or larger
Firmware: UEFI, Secure Boot capable
Security hardware: TPM version 2.0
Graphics: DirectX 12 compatible with a WDDM 2.0 driver
Display: High definition (720p), larger than 9" diagonally, 8 bits per color channel
Account and internet: required to complete setup
Windows 11 is 64-bit only. There is no 32-bit edition, and a 32-bit-only processor cannot run it.
Download instructions
Open the email from Vaneyo containing your license key — it arrives within minutes of purchase. Check the spam folder if it is not in your inbox.
Go to Microsoft’s official download page at microsoft.com/software-download/windows11.
Choose your route: the Installation Assistant to upgrade the PC you are on, or the Media Creation Tool / ISO for a clean install from USB.
For a USB install, use an empty 8 GB or larger drive — the tool erases it.
The Windows 11 media is the same for every edition; your key determines which edition activates.
Installation and activation
Upgrading an existing PC
Run the Installation Assistant and let it check the hardware and download Windows 11. Your files and applications are kept.
When it finishes, go to Settings → System → Activation → Change product key and enter your 25-character key.
Clean installation
Boot from the USB drive, choosing it in the firmware boot menu if necessary.
Select your language and keyboard, then Install now.
Enter your product key when prompted, and select Windows 11 Education as the edition.
Accept the license terms, choose Custom: Install Windows only, and select the target disk. A clean install erases that disk, so back up first.
Complete setup, then confirm under Settings → System → Activation that Windows reports as activated.
If anything stalls, contact us — installation support is included.
Compatibility
Hardware: 64-bit PCs meeting the requirements above, including Intel 8th-generation and newer, AMD Ryzen 2000-series and newer, and Qualcomm Snapdragon 850 and newer.
Upgrades: installs over Windows 10 and over other Windows 11 editions.
Software: runs Microsoft 365, Office LTSC 2021 and 2024, Visual Studio, SQL Server client tools and the standard Windows application catalog.
Networks: joins Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID; manageable by Group Policy and Intune.
Not supported: machines without TPM 2.0 or UEFI Secure Boot, 32-bit processors, and Apple silicon Macs as a native install.
What is the difference between Windows 11 Education and Windows 11 Pro?
Education includes everything in Pro and adds three things Pro does not have: AppLocker for application control, Credential Guard for isolating sign-in credentials, and advanced BitLocker management. Its feature set matches Windows 11 Enterprise.
Is this a subscription or a one-time payment?
A one-time payment. You receive a permanent license key with no recurring charges. It stays valid and Windows keeps working for as long as the product is not uninstalled or deactivated.
Is the license genuine?
Yes. This is a genuine Microsoft license key with full activation support. Vaneyo is an authorized reseller and holds a Microsoft partnership certificate.
When will I receive my key?
Within minutes of purchase, by email. Check your spam or junk folder if it has not arrived, and contact us if you still cannot find it.
Do I need TPM 2.0 to install Windows 11 Education?
Yes. Windows 11 requires TPM 2.0 and UEFI Secure Boot and will not install without them. On many PCs the TPM is present but disabled in firmware, so check the firmware settings before concluding your machine is incompatible. Microsoft’s PC Health Check tool gives a definite answer.
Does it work on 32-bit systems?
No. Windows 11 is 64-bit only — Microsoft does not publish a 32-bit edition of any Windows 11 release.
How many computers can I use this key on?
One. The license activates a single PC. For additional machines you need additional licenses.
Can I move the license to another computer later?
No. This is a retail key tied to the PC it activates. If the computer or its hardware changes, a new key is required.
Do I need a Microsoft account?
Yes, to complete Windows 11 setup. Microsoft requires an account and an internet connection at that stage; once setup is done you can use the PC normally.
Can I upgrade to Windows 11 Education from Windows 10 or from another Windows 11 edition?
Yes, provided the hardware meets the Windows 11 requirements. Upgrading in place keeps your files and installed applications.
Does Windows 11 Education still receive updates?
Yes. Windows 11 is a currently supported Microsoft product and receives security and quality updates.
Does it work on a Mac?
Not as a native installation on Apple silicon Macs. Windows 11 Education is for Windows-compatible PC hardware.
What if the installation does not work?
Contact us. Our Installation Warranty means we guarantee the installation will work correctly, and our team will help until it does.
