Client Access Licenses are a separate purchase from Microsoft
Exchange Server 2019 is Microsoft’s on-premises mail platform: mailboxes, calendars, distribution groups, transport rules and the whole administrative apparatus that sits behind Outlook. The Enterprise edition is the one you need when database count, not user count, is the constraint — it supports up to 100 mounted databases per server, against the Standard edition’s five.

Why choose Exchange Server 2019 Enterprise
Data residency and control. The mailboxes sit on hardware you own, in a jurisdiction you choose.
Database architecture. One hundred mounted databases per server allows real database availability group design rather than cramming mailboxes into five stores.
Integration with what you already run. Active Directory, on-premises applications, and line-of-business systems that submit mail directly.
Hybrid. Exchange on-premises is still part of most staged migrations to Microsoft 365.
Important: Client Access Licenses
Exchange Server is licensed in two parts. This product is the server license. Every user or device that accesses the server also needs a Client Access License, which Microsoft sells separately — a Standard CAL for everyone, plus an Enterprise CAL on top for users who need features like Unified Messaging, In-Place Archive or per-user journaling. If you are unsure what your deployment needs, ask us before you buy rather than after.

Exchange Server 2019 Enterprise system requirements
Exchange Server sizing depends on your mailbox count, database layout and high-availability design, so Microsoft publishes it as sizing guidance rather than one fixed minimum. What is firm: Exchange Server 2019 installs on Windows Server and requires Active Directory. The Enterprise edition supports up to 100 mounted databases per server; Standard supports five.
Send us your mailbox count and resilience requirements and we will size it with you before you order.
How to download Exchange Server 2019 Enterprise
Open the email from Vaneyo containing your license key — it arrives within minutes of purchase.
Download the Exchange Server 2019 media from Microsoft, or from the Volume Licensing Service Center if you have an account.
Prepare the server: Windows Server with the prerequisite roles and features, .NET, and a healthy Active Directory.
Installation and activation
Prepare Active Directory by running Setup.exe /PrepareAD from an elevated command prompt with the required switches.
Run Exchange Setup and complete the Mailbox role installation.
Open the Exchange Admin Center after installation.
Go to Servers, select the server, choose Edit, and enter your product key. This is what converts the installation from trial to licensed and sets the edition.
Restart the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service so the new edition takes effect.
Exchange deployments are unforgiving of shortcuts. If you want us on a call while you do it, that is included.
Host: installs on Windows Server; requires Active Directory Domain Services.
Clients: Outlook desktop (2016 and later), Outlook on the web, Exchange ActiveSync devices, and IMAP/POP clients.
Coexistence: supports hybrid configurations with Microsoft 365 for staged migrations.
Virtualization: runs as a guest on Hyper-V and other mainstream hypervisors.
Upgrade path: Microsoft’s documented route from Exchange Server 2019 is to Exchange Server Subscription Edition, or to Microsoft 365.
How it compares
Enterprise vs Standard — identical software. Standard mounts up to 5 databases per server; Enterprise mounts up to 100. If you are designing database availability groups or separating mailboxes across many stores, you need Enterprise. A single small mail server does not.
Exchange Server 2019 vs Exchange Server Subscription Edition — Exchange Server SE is the supported on-premises successor and is Microsoft’s recommended upgrade path from 2019.
Exchange Server vs Microsoft 365 — Microsoft 365 removes the server, the patching and the hardware, and is what Microsoft recommends for most organizations. On-premises Exchange remains the choice where data must stay on your own infrastructure.
Server license vs CALs — this page sells the server license. Client Access Licenses for the connecting users or devices are a separate purchase.
What exactly do I receive when I buy Exchange Server 2019 Enterprise?
An email containing your 25-character product key, the official Microsoft download link and step-by-step activation instructions. Nothing is shipped — it is a digital licence.
How quickly will my key arrive?
Your Exchange Server 2019 Enterprise key arrives within minutes of your payment clearing, by email. If it is not in your inbox, check your spam or junk folder. If you still cannot find it, contact us and we will resend it straight away.
Is this a genuine Microsoft licence?
Yes. This is a genuine Microsoft Exchange Server 2019 Enterprise product key with full activation support. Vaneyo is an authorized reseller and holds a Microsoft partnership certificate.
Is this a subscription or a one-time payment?
A one-time payment. There are no renewals and no recurring charges. The key stays valid and Exchange Server keeps working for as long as the product is not uninstalled or deactivated.
How many servers does this cover?
This Exchange Server 2019 Enterprise licence covers one server. Additional servers need additional licences — contact us for volume pricing.
Can I move the licence to another computer later?
This is a retail key tied to the machine it activates, so a hardware change means a new key is needed. If you expect to change computers often, ask us about our bind licence products, which move with you.
Where do I download the software?
From Microsoft directly. Your email includes the official download link, so you always install from the genuine source.
Do I need an internet connection?
Only to download the software and activate the key. After that Exchange Server runs offline.
Will it work in my country and language?
Yes. The key is valid in all regions and all languages — choose your language during installation.
What if activation does not work?
Contact us and we will fix it. Our Installation Warranty means we guarantee the installation will work correctly, and our team will stay with it until it does.
Can you help me install it?
Yes, at no extra cost. Reply to your order email and our multilingual team will walk you through installation and activation, or complete it with you.
What is the difference between Exchange Server 2019 Enterprise and Standard?
The software is identical. Standard supports up to 5 mounted databases per server; Enterprise supports up to 100. The edition is set by the product key.
Do I need Client Access Licenses as well?
Yes. Every user or device that accesses the server needs a CAL, sold separately by Microsoft. A Standard CAL covers mail, calendar and Outlook on the web; an Enterprise CAL adds features such as Unified Messaging and In-Place Archive on top.
What does Microsoft recommend instead?
Migrating mailboxes to Microsoft 365, or upgrading the on-premises environment to Exchange Server Subscription Edition. Many organizations do both: migrate most mailboxes and keep one on-premises server for hybrid management.
How many servers does this license cover?
This Exchange Server 2019 Enterprise licence covers one. Each Exchange server needs its own server license.
